What is the difference between
Roller Furlings and Reefing Furlings?
Roller
Furlings roll the sail up for storage or roll the sail out
to be fully set and should not be partially deployed. Reefing
Furlings are stronger and more robust with much larger drums
that will hold the sail that has been partially deployed and
allows the sail to be reefed in strong wind conditions

Is 'REEFURL'
a reefing system?
Definitely
yes. The larger than average drum size
and robust construction allows the sail to be reefed or rolled
without the use of a winch. A large Genoa on a racing sail
boat can be deployed and reefed in a matter of seconds

Will
the furling damage my forestay?
No,
never. The extrusions and drum are completely lined with a
high density PVC liner that rotates around the forestay and
no part of the forestay comes in contact with the aluminium
extrusion or furling drum. Because the forestay is surrounded
by PVC it is not subject to any abrasive wear or corrosion
due to dissimilar metals, as would exist with furling systems
that only have protection at the top and bottom of the furling
extrusion.

Will
'REEFURL' fit all types of forestay rigging?
Unfortunately
no, although minimal modification to the rigging may be required
to some forestay swages. Please refer to the online order
form to enable us to supply a furling system that will suit
your particular rigging requirements

How hard
is it to reef or roll the sail
in strong wind conditions?
Usually
not much harder than in light winds. The wind should be spilled
out of the sail by reducing the load on the sheet rope and
letting the sail luff slightly. It is then reefed to the desired
deployment or completely rolled up.

Will
'REEFURL' affect my rigging?
No.
The furling system rotates loosely around your existing forestay
which can be loosened or tightened without affecting the furling.

Will
there ever be a time when the furling system
is stuck or the sail cannot be rolled in?
No.
The halyard return system eliminates the possibility of the
halyard becoming tangled and our innovative design with absolutely
no internal moving parts has resulted in a totally dependable
system that has been
constructed as if your life depends on it!
